  I’m 32 years old and have had intense itching all over my body for the past two months. It gets worse at night and is making it hard for me to sleep. I also feel very uncomfortable during the day. I have small red pimples on my body, and on my wrist, between my fingers, and near my thumb I have small bumps that contain a transparent fluid. When I break these bumps, the skin becomes dry and forms dry patches. I looked online and wondered if it could be scabies, but I’m not sure. I visited a doctor in Brussels last week, but I was only given a dryness cream, and it has not helped at all. I’m also worried that I may have passed this to my family members, although so far no one else has symptoms. Could you please advise what this might be and whether I can have a video consultation? I have medical insurance and would like to know if the video visit would cost the same as an in-person consultation, around 6 euros, and whether I can pay online.

    I am sorry to hear that you are still experiencing such intense itching, especially when it is disturbing your sleep.
    
    Unfortunately, scabies cannot be reliably confirmed or excluded through an online consultation. The diagnosis requires a proper examination of the skin, ideally including a dermatoscopic examination by a dermatologist, as several other skin conditions can cause very similar symptoms.
    
    If you were already examined in Brussels last week and scabies was considered and excluded, but your symptoms are persisting or you remain concerned, you are of course completely entitled to seek a second dermatol...ogical opinion. However, for this particular question, I would strongly recommend an in-person consultation rather than a video appointment.
    
    Regarding the consultation fee, prices vary from one doctor to another, particularly for non-conventioned physicians. I would therefore recommend checking the consultation price when making the appointment and choosing a dermatologist whose fees are suitable for your budget.

  I am having a fungal infection around groin area I tried applying creams but with no help it is coming back again what should I do and where should I consult

    Based on your description, what is often perceived as a “fungal infection” in the groin area is not always a true fungal condition. In many cases, it is related to skin friction, moisture, and local environment, especially when skin folds are present.
    
    Factors such as body weight, natural skin folds, and increased sweating can create a warm, humid environment where the skin becomes irritated — a condition similar to what is seen in infants in the diaper area. This is commonly referred to as an intertriginous dermatitis, and it can mimic or coexist with fungal infections.
    
    For this reason, management should alwa...ys start with simple but highly effective daily measures:
    
    Ensuring good ventilation of the area
    Wearing loose, breathable cotton underwear
    Keeping the area clean and completely dry
    Reducing friction as much as possible
    Addressing contributing factors such as weight reduction, if relevant
    
    Over-the-counter creams can be helpful, but they will not be fully effective if these underlying conditions are not corrected.
    
    If, despite applying these measures consistently, the problem persists or keeps recurring, I would recommend consulting a dermatologist. A proper clinical examination will allow for a precise diagnosis and, if necessary, a targeted treatment.
