Is wisdom teeth extraction like surgery? Pain and assistance in Belgium?
I have two wisdom teeth 48 and 18, I want to know if the extraction procedure is going to be like a surgery or something? Will it hurt a lot? I am alone in Belgium so I mean do I need any assistance?

Hello, it realy depends on the teeth. Might be very quick and without dolor or might be long and painful after. impossible to answer without a RX check

For wisdom teeth #48 (lower right) and #18 (upper left), the extraction procedure depends on how they are positioned:
• If they are fully erupted and not impacted, the extraction is usually straightforward, similar to removing any other tooth.
• If they are partially erupted or impacted (especially the lower one), it can require a minor surgical procedure involving gum opening and possibly bone removal. This is typically done under local anesthesia.
Pain & recovery:
• During the procedure, you won’t feel pain (thanks to anesthesia), only some pressure.
• Afterward, you may have swelling and discomfort for a fe...w days—especially for the lower wisdom tooth. Pain is usually well managed with prescribed medication.
Assistance:
• You can usually go home alone after the extraction if it’s under local anesthesia.
• If sedation or general anesthesia is used, you will need someone to accompany you.
• Even without sedation, it can be helpful to have someone assist you with shopping or meals for the first 24 hours, especially if both teeth are removed at once.
Tip: Ask your dentist or oral surgeon to explain the exact position of each tooth and whether they expect a surgical approach for #48. That will help you plan recovery time and any needed help. Voir plus

Normally you need a first check-up with a dentist who is going to see what is possible to do and give you all the information for future interventions if you need one.
