Is wisdom teeth extraction like surgery? Pain and assistance in Belgium?

I have two wisdom teeth 48 and 18, I want to know if the extraction procedure is going to be like a surgery or something? Will it hurt a lot? I am alone in Belgium so I mean do I need any assistance?

  • hi, it's like a little surgury, with a local anesthesia, you are not going to feel it no worry, but first the dentist has to see you in consultation to see how it look like and what's his plan to extract it.

  • Hello,
The extraction of wisdom teeth can be a simple extraction (if the tooth is fully erupted and easy to reach) or a surgical extraction (if the tooth is impacted, angled, or covered by gum/bone). Your dentist or oral surgeon will confirm this after examining your X-rays.
👉 During the procedure, you will be under local anesthesia, so you should not feel pain (only some pressure).
👉 Afterward, some swelling or discomfort is normal for a few days and can be managed with painkillers and ice packs.
👉 For one or two wisdom teeth, you usually don’t need someone to stay with you, but it’s often helpful to h

  • Hello, to extract 18 and 48, it is necessary to evaluate their positions with panoramic xray. Then you can see your dentist or a stomatologist to have them removed.

  • Bonjour Normalement, il n'est pas nécessaire d'être accompagné pour une extraction dentaire, mais lors de votre première consultation, nous effectuons un Rădoi, puis nous déterminons et prenons les mesures nécessaires. Merci Dr Alaeddine.

  • An X-ray should be performed to determine whether surgery is needed.

  • For wisdom teeth #48 (lower right) and #18 (upper left), the extraction procedure depends on how they are positioned:
    • If they are fully erupted and not impacted, the extraction is usually straightforward, similar to removing any other tooth.
    • If they are partially erupted or impacted (especially the lower one), it can require a minor surgical procedure involving gum opening and possibly bone removal. This is typically done under local anesthesia.

    Pain & recovery:
    • During the procedure, you won’t feel pain (thanks to anesthesia), only some pressure.
    • Afterward, you may have swelling and discomfort for a fe

  • Hello,

It's difficult to say it like that, just by message without RX or other information. Normally you need a first check-up with a dentist who is going to see what is possible to do and give you all the information for future interventions if you need one. Don't hesitate to take a first appointment for a check-up to see what is possible to do.

    Have a nice day.

  • Traduction français: The extraction of teeth 48 and 18 can be simple or surgical depending on their position. With local anesthesia, there is no pain during the procedure. Afterwards, there is usually some pain, but the intensity varies from person to person. You can generally go home on your own.

  • Without X-ray I can't tell you if the extraction procedure will be easy or paifull.
