Christian Gilles is specialized in cognitive (memory and other) and psychological disorders of the elderly, as well as in cognitive disorders of young adults. Currently, in addition to his private consultation in Bertrix, - he works at the hospitals of Marche and Bastogne (consultations and geriatric service); - he has a consulting activity in the design and layout of living units for people suffering from neurocognitive disorders; - he is an administrator of the Alzheimer Platform of the Province of Luxembourg; - he is working on the preparation, in the province of Luxembourg, of the reform of the organization of mental health care for the elderly, in gestation at the federal level. He left in May 2019 the Pèrî hospital in Liège where he had a consultant function as well as PsyPluriel Liège. On January 01, 2017 he left the Centre Hospitalier de l'Ardenne which he had joined in September 2005. He was in charge of the cognitive and behavioral approach of the patients in the Geriatric Service and was responsible for the Memory Clinic. After obtaining his medical degree in 1979 at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, he followed a 5-year specialization combining Neurology and Psychiatry, during which he also practiced general medicine and emergency medicine. In 1984 he created a Psychogeriatric Unit within the General Psychiatry Department at the Erasmus Hospital in Brussels. He headed it until 1990, when he was appointed head of the Psychogeriatry Department at the Ambroise Paré Hospital (Mons), a teaching hospital of the Université Libre de Bruxelles, where he worked until October 1998. In 1998 he was recruited by the company FORENAP (Rouffach, Haut Rhin) as head of Research and Development in clinical psychopharmacology. Since 1977 he has been working in a basic research laboratory in Neuroscience; he then developed a clinical research activity. He is author or co-author of 33 articles in peer-reviewed journals and 10 book chapters in various fields: laboratory research, clinical neurochemistry, clinical pharmacology, neuroendocrinology, neurophysiology, imaging, case reports, reviews.
