I am having the second surgery disc hernia in a short time 3 months I've lost my sensibility in my half left foot there what are the risks and it's possible a third hernia disc?
Nice question for your surgeon.
Each patient is different. It is important to understand all your symptoms, not only the loss of sensation but also what type of pain you have, how long it has been present, and whether there was any improvement after the first surgery.
In theory, the second surgery is meant to release the nerve again if it is still compressed by a recurrent disc herniation, but recovery of sensation is not always guaranteed. It also depends on the condition of the nerve root itself: if the nerve has been compressed or damaged for too long, full recovery may not be possible.
The risks are higher than the first time, especially because of pos...sible scar tissue (fibrosis). These risks mainly include persistent neuropathic pain, only partial recovery, spinal instability, or a dural tear. There are also other risks similar to those of the first surgery.
And yes, unfortunately, another herniated disc can still happen, even after two surgeries. The good news is that this risk can be reduced with proper rehabilitation and a healthy lifestyle. I hope this has clarified things for you, and I wish you the best for your recovery.
