A general practitioner is able to treat 95% of patients' complaints but will not hesitate, if necessary, to refer you to a specialist (cardiologist, pediatrician,...) while continuing to be your health reference person. Most of the time, we go to our family doctor because we are sick and would like to be relieved or cured. In the medical world, we call this "prevention". We start by making sure that you are up to date on your vaccinations and any screening that may be required (e.g. breast, colon or prostate cancer).
